How I Can Help

I firmly believe that counselling can help you find ways to make changes, feel happier about life and be more accepting of what you cannot change.

My style of working is one of collaboration, meaning that I will give you the space and time to talk about all that is bothering you, without fear of judgement or of hurting someone by what you are saying. You set the agenda and decide what it is that you want to explore; my role is to help you unpick what is going on for you, help to explore all options or angles, and to help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings.

Our work together will help you to understand why you are feeling or reacting in certain ways, and to either find ways to make changes, or to accept what you cannot change. We will work on helping you to break behaviours and thought patterns which are having a negative impact on your life.

It may take just a few sessions before you start to feel better, or it may be longer, but we'll have regular reviews so you can tell me if there is anything that you'd like to work on or change. Of course, you can end your therapy whenever you choose.

About me

After finishing my Level 4 diploma in counselling in 2019, I started up my private practice.

Since then, I've worked with people from all walks of life, helping them process a wide variety of issues.

Working with people and helping them make a difference in their lives has always been my drive in life. I have over 20 years experience as a college lecturer, helping both teenagers and adults gain the qualifications and skills needed to move onto the next phase of their lives.

I am passionate about counselling, having seen the transformational effect it has on people's lives. It is always a real honour when people share their innermost thoughts and feelings with me.

I am a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, and abide by their code of ethics. I am also fully insured and have full DBS clearance.

About Me

Online & Face To Face Therapies

Online Therapy

I often work online and a key advantage of online therapy, is that it saves you time as you don't have to travel to your appointment, nor do you need to think about where you will park. Also, you will be in the comfort of your own home, meaning you can even have your cat or dog (or other furry friend) with you during the session! Sessions are via video or phone call on either WhatsApp or Microsoft Teams.

Face To Face Therapy

I am able to offer face to face therapy from my home in the Longton area. Some people prefer this type of therapy as they can be sure of privacy from other family members and be confident not to be disturbed by whatever is going on in their own home. It is also easier to feel a deeper connection with your therapist when meeting in person, compared to working online. Another benefit (or disadvantage, depending on your point of view) is that sometimes my two cats break into my counselling room, despite my best efforts to stop them from doing so!

In terms of practicalities, there is plenty of on-road parking, and the village that I live in is easily accessible, just a few minutes drive off the A59. If you don't drive, there is a bus stop just five minutes walk from my house, on the number 2/2A Preston to Southport bus route.

For me, it's incredibly important that everyone has access to counselling, if they need it. For this reason, I offer discounted fees for students, unemployed people or those on low income, for morning and afternoon appointments only. If this applies to you, please mention this at time of booking.
